The Uitsmijter
Eggs are an amazing part of any breakfast and an Uitsmijter is the perfect breakfast meal. An Uitsmijter is an egg sandwich with eggs, ham, and cheese all on toast. not your typical sandwich, the Uitsmijter has no top layer and is better eaten with fork and knife
Ingredients
For one uitsmijter the ingredients you will need are:
4 slices of bread
4 eggs
Salt and pepper
5 slices of ham
Butter (varying amounts)
Cheese (usually Dutch)
(This is a large portion. ingredient portions can vary depending on the size of sandwich you want)
You will also need materials to cook them as well:
Grill
Spatula
Knife (butter)
Cheese slicer
toaster
Step Two: Set Up
To start, heat up the grill to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and let it warm up. you can put your bread in the toaster now but don’t start the toaster yet (recommended for four slot toasters if two slots start toasting now.) Slice up the cheese (enough to cover all the bread/ham).
Step Three: Cooking Eggs
Start with the eggs. Put butter on the grill where you will be putting the eggs. Cook the eggs sunny side up, waiting to flip until the originally clear liquid goo is white. at this point, put the toast down in the toaster if it a four slot toaster
Step Four: Cooking Ham
As the eggs finish up, put the ham on the grill next to the eggs and cook them until the eggs are close to finishing up, making sure to flip occasionally to avoid burning the ham
Step Five: Creation
When the toast comes up (preferably golden brown but not necessary), butter it and bring it over to the grill. arrange the toast in a grid pattern (2x2). use the cooked ham to cover the toast. Lay your cheese on top of the ham attempting to cover as much area with what you have as possible (feel free to slice some more cheese). After that, put the eggs on top (one egg per piece of toast) and enjoy!
After Word
This is a very large portion so feel free to make a smaller scale portion or arrange different portions of ingredients to better suit your tastes and enjoy your Uitsmijter!
