The Two Towers

This project was a simplified reference to a scene in Lord Of The Rings when multiple towers on top of mountains are lit up in order to warn people across the land of impending danger.

Supplies

Supplies: Paper, 2 LED's, iron thread, an Adafruit Circuit Playground, 2 magnets, one piece of felt, copper tape, battery, pencil.

Schematic

The original design would have included more LED's in parallel, however, due to limited time, I was only able to put two LED's in the final design. The design is essentially two LED's in parallel with a switch.

Initial Design

The initial design that I created was made with copper tape in series. Unfortunately, due to some sort of physical bug, I could not get this design to work. However, if I had a better power source, I surely would have chosen to have this schematic instead, because I think that it would work better theoretically to have it so that all of the lights turn on only if they are all able to.

Initial Design 2

Because the first design with the copper tape did not seem to work, I tried a second time with a parallel circuit since the battery theoretically would be able to handle it better. However, we ran out of time before I was able to finish this design. My final design would be based off of this one.

Final Design (Inside)

I would have liked to have made this design more complicated but we ran out of time and I had an appointment outside of class I needed to get to. However, luckily this one worked. It was a simple parallel circuit with two LED's and a ground circuit and a power circuit to connect to.

The "Switch"

Now I will argue all day long that this technically is a switch, as it is a break in the circuit that turns on and off the entire project. However, if I were to design this product for a real life situation (or if I had more time in class), I would have made a much better design that included the switch on the outside for ease of use. This switch is not impressive and I am aware of that, but it still is a switch.

Final Design (From the Outside)

It is a simple drawing of two light sources on top of mountains "communicating" with each other. If I were to have more time, I would have liked to make this design much more complex with a range of mountains that included a switch on the outside of the product.
