Want to drink from ever-higher heights? Want to impress your friends with your ability to stack straws to any height?

Enter the Straw Coupler!

Just attach it to your keychain, and you have bestowed upon yourself a mildly useful superpower. These currently only work with 7mm OD straws, and I have provided the .F3d file if you would like to edit it for your particular straw size.

Supplies

A 3d printer and some filament of any kind are all you need. If you do not have one, you can use a service like Pcbway or Xeometry to order the part, or use a 3d printer at your local library if they provide access.

Get the file for the Straw Coupler Here. No assembly needed.

The part is small enough that infill does not matter, and it is designed not to need any supports.

Just slice the STL and wait 15-30ish minutes, depending on how quick your 3d printer is.

How to Use

Straws can be joined with three easy steps.

  1. Push one straw into the hole the arrow is pointing away from
  2. Push the other straw into the hole the arrow is pointing towards firmly
  3. Firmly push the Straw Coupler in the direction the straw is pointing until it is off the straw.
  4. If straws are not attached, pinch the creased straw slightly and insert it into the other straw.

You've just made the party a little more fun. -or your coffee a little sillier.- or maybe you solved a problem with those extra straws you found in your glovebox. I know I did.
