The Plant Tower!
Hello World! My name is Aarushi Dubey and I made the Plant Stacker, a tower where you can keep your plants!
Supplies
This tower is made by multi purposing materials. The materials used are:
- 2 Soda Cans
- Bottle Caps
- Rocks (Preferred The pebbles you find at the beach, but others work too :)
- Decorating Materials ex paint and etc.
- A square piece of Felt
- Glue
Top Can
The First Step to making this is to cut the cans you can cut them any way you would like to fit the plant. When doing this have caution the aluminum from the cans can cut so be carefull. The part of the can where you drink from will be on the bottom covered with felt for the water to slowly seep out
Bottom Can
This can will be the base for the tower. This can will be different because the top is out to let extra water seep out.To get the top of the can open what I did was push scissors in (To create a dent ) and cut a circle. This part is also the Extra Caution steps so it's recommended to wear gloves.
Part a :Bottom Can
Note :This step is mainly for decoration but makes it look better.
Now we have to make slits in the bottom can for a view inside.
When doing this some tips are to keep your hand Farther away while cutting.I used pebbles to have a nature look.
When your done cutting use a transparent tape or wrap to put over so the extra water won't leak out. Make it easy to remove, for taking the water out
Stack!!!& Filter
Now here is the easy part: Stacking! What we have to do here is hot glue or super glue both cans together. The Next step along with this is to add the felt.Adding the felt is important because when we have the extra water it needs a way to get out otherwise it could flood the plant.
Hang or Place?
This is the near end of making The Plant Tower, you have a decision Do you want your tower to be hangable?
If no then Congratulations! You are done Tell Me How You liked It!
If Yes
You are going to need some supplies (Don't Worry It won't be alot)
- String *Make sure its strong !*
- 3D Printer
- Glue
Our First step is to 3D print something we can attach to the Tower to make it hangable. After Printing We have to glue it on the can.
That's The End Thanks For Seeing this! I will be making Updates to this Soon
Background Information:
Lets Recycle
By:Aarushi Dubey
The World Is always innovating the things around us, Lets add a problem to that list the usage of plastic materials! We Should Work on Recycling Plastic Materials And Reducing Climate Change.
According to Christopher Noble at MIT "Plastic also contributes to climate change: plastics are environmentally costly to make and dispose of, they emit greenhouse gases as they decompose, and some evidence shows that the tiniest bits damage zooplankton—critters that are critical in the ocean’s ability to absorb carbon." This shows that we have to use our resources carefully if not we will only be harming our planet! "Words that show negative effects only stay in humans minds to make change, Words that say how cause action" Since plastic powers Climate Change about 20% lets Recycle to help climate change go down! Some things you can do are
"Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space.
Volunteer. Volunteer for cleanups in your community. You can get involved in protecting your watershed, too.
Educate. When you further your own education, you can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources.
Conserve water. The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean.
Choose sustainable. Learn how to make smart seafood choices at www.fishwatch.gov.
Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag.
Use long-lasting light bulbs. Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Also flip the light switch off when you leave the room!
Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.
Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.
Bike more. Drive less." according to
