The Perfect Pumpkin Pie

IMG_3872.jpg

Hey guys, pumpkin season is in full swing around here! Pumpkin pie is a classic fall and Thanksgiving dessert here in the United States. This dessert hits all the classic fall flavors plus it is creamy and decadent and perfectly sweetened. I really hope you give this a try! If you want to make your own pumpkin pie this season then follow the step by step instructable below or watch the video tutorial.

Begin by flouring your work surface. I am doing this step because I am using my homemade pie crust recipe which I linked in the ingredients, if you have a premade pie crust then you can skip the step.

Roll Out the Crust

You will want to roll out the crust until it is larger than the pie dish, a simple way to measure is just by placing the pie tin right on top of the dough.

Place Crust on Tin and Crimp

Place the crust onto the pie tin and fold the outside edge underneath the inside of the pie dish. A simple method to crimp the pie is by just poking the crust with your index finger while applying pressure with your other hand to make "waves" continue to do this until the entire pie is crimped.

Fork It!

Don't forget to fork your pie, this will insure that the pie crust doesn't bubble after being baked. Also now you can begin to preheat your oven. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

The Pumpkin Mixture

In a large bowl add the pumpkin puree , sweetened condensed milk, eggs, all the spices and salt.

Combine

Whisk until everything is combined nice and smooth.

Pour Filling Into Crust

Place crust on a cookie sheet and pour filling into crust. Placing the pie on a cookie sheet just ensures that you won't spill any of the pumpkin mixture in your oven.

Bake

Bake 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F and continue baking 35 to 40 minutes or until the edges of the filling are golden and the center is still slightly jiggly. When it first comes out the pie will look a little "inflated" but this is normal just allow it to cool.

Cool and Enjoy!

Let pie cool completely and garnish however you desire. Enjoy!
