The Perfect Hot Wheels Shelf

IMG_4175.JPG

My brother has a bunch of Hot Wheels laying on his desk, and this has given me the opportunity to make something for him to lay them on, so I have made a shelf, for his cars.

Supplies

Needed supplies are:

  • Seven 21 5/8in. x 2 1/2in. boards
  • Two 22 9/16in. x 1 3/4in. boards
  • Two 22 1/16in. x 1 3/4in. boards
  • One 22 3/8in. x 22 4/8in. board
  • 26 staples
  • A stapler
  • Miter saw
  • Table saw
  • Wood Glue

Cutting

My first step was cutting the wood, I found some old wood lying around to cut it into all the different sizes I needed listing in the supplies. This project can vary to be bigger or smaller, it is really up to your preference, and how many cars you are planning to put up.

Gluing

After I had cut it, I made sure everything would fit nicely and started gluing the border with wood glue. With the border being thin I had help with the staples, 3 on each piece of wood.

Painting

Painting is really up to one's preference, but since I have different types of wood I decided to paint the shelf black.

Stapling

The final step was stapling my seven shelves. For them to be all even I spaced them out 2 1/8 of an inch from each one.

Once again this project can be made in all different shapes and sizes, just remember we all have to start from somwhere.
