Gather Ingredients

1) 2 1/4 cups All Purpose Flour

2) 1 tsp Baking Soda

3) 1 tsp Salt

4) 1 cup Butter

5) 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar

6) 3/4 cup Brown Sugar

7) 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

8) 2 large Eggs

9) 2 cups Chocolate Chips

Preheat Oven

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees farenheit.

You do this before anything else so that once you have completed the following steps the oven will be hot and ready to bake some cookies.

Mix Dry Ingredients

Pour the 2 1/4cups of flour into a medium sized mixing bowl, along with 1 tsp of salt and 1 tsp of baking soda.

Mix thouroughly.

This step ensures that the dry ingredients are well mixed before we add them to the wet ingredients.

Prepare Mixing Bowl

Pull out a large mixing bowl and set it up.

For this you will be using the flat beater, so you can set aside the wire wisk and hook mixing attatchments.

Mix Wet Ingredients

For this step it is helpful if the butter is at room temperature. However if this is not the case, microwave on high for 10 seconds and then by 5 second intervals until butter is soft, NOT melting.

Now you can add the 1 cup of butter, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Mix thoroughly. Start the mixing at a slow speed for about 30 seconds and then mix on high for about 3 and a half to 4 minutes or until soft and blended.

Mix in Eggs

It is helpful to transfer the egg to a small bowl before adding to the mixture because in case a small piece of egg shell falls in it is much easier to remove.

Now you can add each egg to the large mixing bowl (containing the wet ingredients) one at a time to ensure that they are mixed well.

Add the Dry to the Wet

It is time to bring the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients together.

Pour in half of the dry ingredients to the mixing bowl. Start the mixer at a slow speed so that no flour goes flying, then increase the speed to mix thoroughly once it begins to mix. Now add the remaining dry ingredients to the bowl and repeat the mixing process until all the ingredients are well blended.

Add Chocolate Chips

Pour the 2 cups of chocolate chips into the mixture of cookie dough and mix on high for 8 to 10 seconds. This mixing is very short because you only want to mix in the chocolate chips NOT crush them.

Spray Pan

Using Pam cooking spray (or the preferred cooking spray of your choice), lightly coat the entire baking sheet which will be holding the cookies.

Scoop Cookies

20160323_210916.jpg

For this you will use a cookie dough scooper to scoop out the cookie dough, but if you do not have one handy then two tablespoons will work perfectly.

Create balls of cookie dough which are about the size of a golf ball, and space them out on the baking sheet roughly 1.5 inches apart.

OPTIONAL: Depending on the type of cookies you prefer, you may leave the balls how they are or you can press them down until they are about 1/2 inch tall. This option does not affect the cooking time.

Baking the Cookies

Once the oven has finished preheating to 375 degrees farenheight add the first prepared batch of cookies, and set a timer for 9 to 11 minutes.

Now we wait.

While Waiting...

So that this time is not completely spent watching the clock until the first batch of cookies are done, you can prepare a second baking sheet of cookie dough to continue baking as soon as the first batch is finished.

Begin Cooling

20160323_212224.jpg

Now that your delicious chocolate chip cookies have finished baking, you can set them on top of the stove to cool for about 2 minutes.

Cooling Continued...

To finish cooling, lay out all of the cookies on a cookie rack to garauntee that they cool evenly and quickly. Do not rush the cookies from the baking sheet to the cooling rack because they will likely still be soft and you do not want to break a cookie.

Remove Second Batch

Once the second batch of cookies has finished baking, you may turn off the oven and repeat the cooling process.

Enjoy Some Cookies

Now that you have finished baking a batch of some delicious homemade chocolate chip cookies, try one while theyre still warm. Remember to transfer them to a resealable container to ensure freshness for a long period of time.

Time to Clean...

Unfortunately, while baking can be pretty sweet in the end, it also requires some cleaning. So its time you get out your sponge and get to work because the longer you wait the more difficult it will be to clean.
