The ''Hawser''

FNE74U4KUPIYEGN.jpeg

Greetings everyone!

As you may have noticed, I actually named this instructable as the ''Hawser'' and if you look it up at google, you'll get the result that it is a very extremely strong rope, yes I've decided to name it this way, because I think it deserves it, what we are about to make is a great use for the growing amount of plastic in the world, An extremely powerful bonding rope that could bring almost any metal or wood Blocks/sticks together.

Great! we found a use for it, but why create one with plastic when we have tons of other rope choices?

Well that's exactly where the problem lies, We waste a lot of fibres, jute and many other things for the sake of making ropes, well they may be useful at something huge, but why waste them for small scale productions?

I have come up with an idea to use something worthless, plastic, to make something we builders/makers are sure to use often, be it small project or a big one, be it 2 pencils or even a huge dog house.

Supplies

There isn't even a need to purchase anything for this, search it up, you probably have these things around you.

Materials needed:

1) Blade.

2) Plastic bottle with a preferably big cap (like a 5 liter water can cap) or a small one if you have a smaller blade.

3) A heating source, like a small lighter.

That's it?

Yep, That's all you will be needing.

You will need to cut the cap like in the photo and the steps are shown in the video, making room for piercing the blade so we make a bottle cutter.

Preparing the Bottle.

You will have to cut the bottle such that the ''somewhat'' plainer side is usable like shown in the picture.

We can use both sides if you have a bottle like this, if not, we will mostly be using the top part.

Attaching the Bottle to the Cutter.

We will be cutting the bottle as shown in the video to obtain our so called ''Hawser''.

There is a picture of how the bottle fits on the blade too.

Getting Your Perfect Size.

It can either be a short or a long one like in the picture, It all depends on the object you want.

I made a short and a long one for the examples.

I used the short one to bond 2 pencils and the long one for a literal swing that I swing on everyday thinking about these ideas.

The Best Part.

Now for my most awaited part, It's thermal properties, You may have wondered from the start that The bonding may be weak with just a knot or 2, well not here, The bond is extremely strong as we use the lighter's flame to tighten and bring the plastic together like in the video so that it makes the perfect bonding with extreme strength.

Perfect

You can see an even better example in these pictures when I tried to shoot it with an even better camera angle and with better blades and a blow torch.

And to call it a day, I thanks you all for reading through and I hope that you like this idea, wishing you all a lovely day ahead.

This is aslam signing off and I'll catch you all in the next one.
