The Gaia Bin is a paper recycling bin made from cardboard waste. It was designed and developed through Fusion 360 and Autodesk 123D Make.

First, I designed the bin concept on Fusion 360, and then I imported it into Autodesk 123D Make and the program generated 2D build plans to construct this bin through slotting mechanisms. There are different ways the 2D build plans are generated, I chose the radial slices option as I thought it was the most aesthetically pleasing option.

After the 2D plans were created, I modified the top piece so that I could include a logo and then I added it into the build plans so it could be laser cut and engraved. I then sent the files to the laser machine, the photo of the laser machine shows a prototype being cut out - unfortunately I didn't get a photo of the final product. There is also a video attached to show how the bin is assembled.
