The 4 Classical Elements (Fire, Water, Earth, Air) was instrumental in some additional research on what shapes, colors etc represent these 4 elements. One such inspiration was the cute triangles. I decided to have a set of 4 coasters to decorate my dining table with 'The Elemental Coasters' set.

Based on my research let me share some information here for all the 4 elements and the triangles (images 1-4)

Fire -> Red -> Triangle tip facing upwards

Air -> Yellow -> Triangle tip facing upwards (Additional line parallel to the triangle base)

Water -> Blue -> Triangle tip facing downwards

Earth -> Green -> Triangle tip facing downwards (Additional line parallel to the triangle base)

Does this sound 'Elemental' to you as well? If the answer is yes, you are more than welcome to join me.

Supplies

1. Wooden Tumbling blocks

2. Wood Glue

3. Ruler (or scale)

4. Acrylic Paint (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow & White)

5. Paint brush

6. Pencil

In this step, I first picked 2 blocks (image 2) and on the side added some wood glue (image 3). Stuck these 2. Then, I added glue to the third block and stuck it along these 2. Now the first part is ready with 3 blocks (image5). I then continued to make 4 such parts (image 5-8). Kept 2 horizontal and 2 vertical to get a nice pattern (image8). The first coaster is now ready. Repeating the same steps (images 2-8), I now built 4 such coasters (11-14). Ready to go ahead.

Coloring the Coasters

I decided to have a white color for these coasters as a background. So I painted all the 4 coasters with white Acrylic paint and let it dry thoroughly for an hour.

Designing the Coasters

As the base coaster is made from a group of 4 coaters with 3 in each group, it became easy to mark the triangles as shown in images 2-3. The 'Air' & 'Earth' additionally have a horizontal line parallel to the base of the triangle and this was marked with the pencil.

In this step, I picked the red color to fill out the triangle completely. To decorate further, I added the red stripes on the edges (image 1 & 4). Let it dry for roughly an hour.

In this step, I picked the green color to fill out the triangle completely. To decorate further, I added the green stripes on the edges (image 1 & 3). Let it dry for roughly an hour.

This marks the end of the project with all the 4 Elements in symbolic form on the Coasters. Coasters are ready. It's 'Tea time'!!!
