The "Complaint" Box

IMG_0065.jpeg

I This is an instructable for people like me who don't like complainers. I will take critisism but not complaints....

WARNING: SHOCK DANGER

I your capacitor is over 500 volts it could be a major safety hazard 500 volts could potentally kill someone and is as strong as an electric eel It is also as strong as some power lines. If you have a very large capcacitor with a lot of amps then I would not use it.

disclaimer:

I am responsible for any injuries.

Now that I made this project sound like it will kill someone and it will be your fault we can begin because none of that is true if you know the dangers of electricity.

This project is not dangerous I just made it seem like two AA batterys could kill you.

Supplies

3d printer

hot glue

drill

drill bits

cardboard

AA battery and battery case

capacitor at least 30 volts

If you do not have a capacitor then you can use an old ipad brick charger

a piece of tin foil

ribbon cable

soldering iron

desolderer

solder

a pen with the clicker

a water bottle cap

How Does It Work

IMG_0063.jpeg

This complaint box is a shocker that gives a shock depending on the capacity of the capacitor. The AA batterys charge the capacitor and when it is touched it will give a nice shock.

Dismantalling the Charger

IMG_0045.jpeg

All chargers are different so I am going to give the best advise. Look for a line that looks like a crack in the charger. run a box opener in that crack several times. This will cut through the adhesive keeping the charger together. Depending on the charger the circuit board would be a different shape. There will be a transformer (the yellow square next to the usb port). there will be a capacitor (The green thing on the other side of the circuit board that says 50 volts or something). You will remove the capacitor with with either a desolderer or a soldering iron. When the solder turns to a liquid then the capacitor should slide right out.

3d Print

first, download the stl and print it. next cut out 6 5inch by 5inch cardboard squares. Glue 5 OF THE 6 SQUARES together. Once the thing is printed then set the pieces aside. My 3d printer was not available so I just made it out of cardboard.

The Battery

IMG_0046.jpeg

on the piece of cardboard that you did not glue on yet, drill a hole 1/2 inch from the center. Solder about 6 inches of wire on the AA battery case ends where you will get electricity and pull the wires through the hole. Apply hot glue on the bottom of the battery case and glue it towards the center of the piece of hot glue. strip the wire ends so you can solder each end to a capacitor. You can add heat shrink tubing but you don't have to because the wiring is on the inside.

Capacitor

IMG_0056.jpeg

Solder two more wires to the capacitor and add heat shrink tubing. Make sure the exposed wires do not touch or else this won't work.

Modifying

IMG_0047.jpeg

make a 1/2 hole on the side next to the one with the missing face. Make sure the wires are long enough to go out of that hole you made.

Button

IMG_0057.jpeg

Fill the inside half way with some sort of nonconductive material so that it does not short circuit when the button is not pushed. Remove the spring from the pen and cut about 1/2 inch off of it. cut a piece of bbq skewer just longer then the spring and add it in the middle of the "bottom of the spring".

Wires

IMG_0062.jpeg

Add the jumper cables to the capacitor and make it go through the top of the box. Once you got that done you can add the final piece of cardboard.

The Button Part 2

IMG_0054.jpeg

Drill two holes in the cap and push the wires through make it so that there is 1/2 inch of wire sticking from the holes. hot glue the button on the top of the cardboard so you can push it down. Cover the top in tin foil or foil tape and you are ready to electricuit people through the ultimate form of comunication.

The Sign

IMG_0065.jpeg

Now you can add the sign because all of the faces are on. I would make the arrow point at the button and make the sign on the front of the box. Again my 3d printer is not working right now so there is no sign on mine :(

Finishing Touches

IMG_0064.jpeg

All you have to do is add the button, make it look nice and have fun. just remember to hide the battery from the people and ask them to press the button before you accept their' complaint. happy shocking:)
