The Bripe - a Coffee Brewing Pipe
I couldn't buy a Bripe as they'd sold out so the obvious choice was to make one!
Supplies
Paper
Copper
Solder (optional)
Template
Paper is much cheaper than copper so that's where I started
Cut Out the Copper
Since copper is a relatively soft metal, you can easily mark out the template using a Stanley knife/box cutter/Maker Knife. You can then cut out the copper with either snips or a bandsaw (a woodworking one will work)
Form the Funnel
If you have access to a roller then you can use that to do a lot of the hard work. Either way you'll need to do most of the work by hand. If this is getting tough then you can anneal the copper - heat it up to a dull/cherry red then quench it in water. There will be some scale that forms after but that comes off with Scothbrite.
Weld the Cone
I used an Orion welder to do this but it's easier/more accessible to solder it together. Just be sure to use solder that's suitable for drinking water pipes.
Smooth Out the Weld and Polish
I used a combination of sander, unitising wheels and buffing wheels to get a smooth finish and the right shape. This is easiest to do before welding on the pipe.
Add a Pipe to Your Bripe
I bent copper pipe to the shape I wanted then drilled a hole in the side of the bripe and welded it in place.
Make a Handle
Feel free to flex your creativity here. I chose to turn down a cork from a wine bottle to prevent the heat of the bripe from burning your hand
