Chocolate Caramel Pie With Pi on Top

The is the perfect pie for pie cookoffs and parties. IT has that chocolate and carmel that the kids and adults all love.

First you must acquire all of the required ingredients:

1 Oreo Pie Crust (Can be found at a local supermarket)
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup of cold water
1 3/4 cup whipping cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
2 eggs*
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 bags chewy caramels**
2 tablespoons butter or margarine

*Clean, uncracked eggs
** preferably Kraft brand

Sprinkle the gelatin over water in small pan, let stand for 1 minute.

Stir over low heat for 3 minutes or until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

Stir in one cup of cream. Heat to a boil, pour into blender.

Add in chocolate chips. Blend until smooth.

Add 1/2 a cup of cream the eggs, and the vanilla. Blend. Pour into large bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Combine 1 cup of caramels*, 1/4 cup of cream, and butter in small pan.Simmer over low heat, while stirring, until smooth.


*about 24 individually wrapped caramels.

Pour caramel mixture into the prepared pie crust. Refrigerate for 10 minutes.

Stir chocolate gelatin mixture until smooth. Wait 5 minutes, then, pour over caramel and refrigerate for 3 hours.

Now for the garnish. Microwave the remaining caramels until they are pliable. 

Roll out the caramel on to a lightly floured sheet, roll the caramel until it is a 1/4" thick.

Carve out a medium sized pi symbol. Place in the center of the pie.

Make a circle whose center is empty and write down pi on it.
