Thanksgiving Rolls With a Twist
Start a new thanksgiving tradition with these thanksgiving rolls. Each roll has something written on a peice of paper that a family member is thankful for.
During Thanksgiving dinner family members can read the message that is found in their roll. To make it fun they have to guess who is thankful for what is written on the peice of paper.
This is an easy and fun way to get family members to reflect on and talk about what they are thankful for during thanksgiving. Use your imagination and have some fun! This same idea can be used for other occasions as well.

Make the Dough
Ingredients:
2 sticks of butter
1 cup warm milk
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
3 eggs
8-9 cups of flower
Melt two sticks of butter in 1 cup of warm milk. Add the sugar, salt, and mix in 2 of the eggs.
In a separate bowl mix 2 cups of warm water with 4 yeast packets with your finger and give it some time to thicken up. Once the yeast is activated and thicker you can mix it with the the other mixture. Then add 8-9 cups of flower. (You will want to add flower until it does not stick to your hands a lot.) Mix it all together with your hands until it is uniformly mixed.
Separate the dough into 4 evenly sized balls and place them under a towel to rise for about 30 minutes.

Write the Messages
Have each family member write down on a few small pieces of paper different things that they are grateful for.
Roll the Message Into the Roll
Start by flattening a ball of dough into a big round pizza like circle. Using a pizza cutter cut the circle into even slices.
You can then place the messages on the outside edge of on of the dough slices and roll it up. You can also put cheese or other fillings in the rolls the same way, however, you probably wont want to do both as the message will get ruined and someone might end up accidentally eating it.
You can also add some flare to the rolls by folding them into a crescent shape like croissants. You then beat the last egg with a little bit of sugar and lightly brush it onto the rolls before you put them in the over. This will give them a nice glazed look.
Put them in the over at 350F for 20-30 minutes.

You now have delicious rolls with a twist. Serve these up during thanksgiving dinner and have everyone try to guess whose message they found in their roll. This is a fun tradition you can start with your family. Best wishes!
