Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 42.
This measures around 11 inches.
You can adjust the size of the potholder by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Round 2:-
1 Single Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 2 and turn.
Round 3:-
Skip 2 Stitches.
1 Single Crochet in the next stitch.
1 Double Crochet Cluster in the same stitch(i.e. in the same stitch of the Single Crochet.
**Usually while finishing the Double Crochet Cluster, you would Chain 1 and finish the stitch. Here while doing the cluster stitch do not Chain 1 at the end.
Repeat(Skip 2 , (1SC,1DC Cluster)- both in the same stitch)).
1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 2 and turn.
To Make a Double Crochet Cluster Stitch:-
- Yarn over, insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the hook.(This is same as doing a Double Crochet Stitch. It is just that , you don't finish the Double Crochet Stitch and continue doing the first part of the Double Crochet Stitch again and again). You should have 2 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over, insert the hook in the same stitch, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. You should have 3 loops on the hook.
- Continue with the first part of Double Crochet stitch untill you have 4 loops on the hook.
- Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 4 loops on the hook.
Round 4:-
**We will be working in between each of the cluster stitches.
1 Single Crochet in between the first two clusters.
1 Double Crochet Cluster in the same stitch(i.e. in the same stitch of the Single Crochet.
Repeat((1SC,1DC Cluster)- both in the same stitch) in between each of the clusters.).
1 Double Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 2 and turn
Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 4 untill the size needed.
Border Step 1:-
3 Single Crochet in the first stitch.(this will be the first corner)
1 Single Crochet in each of the stitches untill the next corner.
3 Single Crochets in the 2nd Corner.
Repeat (1SC) in each stitch and in the corners make 3 Single Crochets.
Slip stitch on top of the first Single Crochet.
Border Step 2:-
Chain 2(Not Counted as a stitch).1 Double Crochet in the same stitch.
3 Double Crochets in the next stitch (i.e. the middle stitch of the SC group). This will form the corner.
1 Double Crochet in each stitch untill the next corner.
3 Double Crochets in the corner stitch.
Repeat 1(DC) in each of the stitches and 3 Double Crochets in the corner stitches.
Slip stitch on top of the first Double Crochet and weave off.
