Tatted Bracelet - a Special Gift
Today is my best friend's daughter 18th birthday. A very special day. For a long time, I was thinking of a truly special gift. She loves everything handmade. Being an artist herself she really cherishes all her handmade gifts with a lot of love and happiness. Every year I try to make something special on her birthday. This year was different from the rest. This 'Tatted Bracelet - A Special Gift' is made on this nice occasion.
Tatting is one of the very unique works. I love it the most.
It appears very convoluted and complex, but I will teach you all the steps to achieve this in simple step-by-step path. Come join the journey with me!

Learn 'How to Tat'? and Make the First Ring (ACA)
At the time lets gather the supplies and the initial steps and get going
Have your big needle threaded and feed the beads into the thread as seen pic 1. Few terms and conventions of Tatting
ds = double stitch
p = picot
chain
ring
As this is my own design, I will share the pattern for your ease.
One double stitch consists of one loop over and one under the needle see pic 2. (Which is also called the Lark's knot). Continue with this until you have 10 ds on the needle.
Over to the pattern see pic 4. I started at pt. A. 'A' is a ring with 'C' as the picot. The steps as given below
Step 1 - For AC - 10 ds (pic 3 & 4)
Step 2 - Before adding the picot, I pulled 3 beads which make up for the picot in here see pic 5.
Step 3 - For the picot - Pulled 3 beads (pic 5)
Step 4 - For CA - 10 ds (pic 7)
Step 5 - Pulled all the 20 ds on the needle. Closed the loop (pic 8 and 9) and knotted (pic 10)
First ring A-C-A is complete
Make the First 'Chain' (AD) Via Picot B
Referring the pattern in pic 2 again, I planned on completing Chain AD via picot B (pic 1). Started at the base of the ring AC (see pic 2)
Step 1 - For AB - 10 ds (pic 4)
Step 2 - For Picot B, pulled 4 beads (pic 5)
Step 3 - For BD - 10 ds (pic 6)
Step 4 - For chain AD, pulled all the ds on the needle as shown in pic 6 and 7
So far I have A-C-A-B-D (Ring-Chain) completed
Make the Second 'Ring' (DCD) Via Picot C
I referred the chart again in pic 2 (This chart is the same)
For Ring DCD (pic 1)
Step 1 - At the base of the D, make 10 ds (pic 3)
Step 2 - Carefully I inserted the needle in the existing picot C (pic 4)
Step 3 - Continued with 10 ds (pic 5)
Step 4 - Pulled all the 20 ds on the needle and inserted via the small loop shown in pic 6
By now, I had A-C-A-B-D-C-D (Ring-Chain-Ring) completed
Make the Second 'Chain' (DEF) Via Picot E
Per the chart again in pic 1
For Chain D-F-F (pic 1)
Step 1 - At the base of the D, make 10 ds (pic 3)
Step 2 - For Picot E, pulled 3 beads and continued with 10 ds (pic 4)
Step 4 - Pulled all the 20 ds on the needle and inserted via the small loop shown in pic 4
This completes A-C-A-B-D-C-D-E-F (Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain) completed
Make the Third 'Ring' (FCF) Via Picot E
I referred the chart again in pic 2 (This chart is the same)
For Ring DEF (pic 1)
Step 1 - At the base of the F, make 10 ds (pic 3)
Step 2 - Carefully I inserted the needle in the existing picot C (pic 4) and continued with 10 ds
Step 4 - Pulled all the 20 ds on the needle and inserted via the small loop shown in pic 6
This brings me to A-C-A-B-D-C-D-E-F-C-F (Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain-Ring) completed
Next steps are to continue along the length with Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain-Ring-Chain (7 chains as seen in pic 1), I then created a Ring and attached it back to the last Picot and continue the Ring-Chain until I reached back to the beginning or pt A.
With this I accomplished the bracelet (see pic 1)
Adding the Adjustable Chain
With the help of pliers, I added the chain. Lock and the bracelet is ready.
Bracelet Is Ready
Finally the bracelet was ready. When I showed this to my friends daughter, she couldn't believe it was handmade. She's so happy and eager to receive it soon. It's already shipped and is in the way.
