Taco Cheese Fries

In Ireland, I had this amazing dish called Taco Cheese Fries.

I have never seen in anywhere, but there. I have tried, in this Instructable, to recreate this delicious dish. I couldn't figure out the sauce that was used so I just used one that worked out even better.

Ingredients and What You Need

We made our own fries, and I would seriously suggest that you do. They turned out great and really added to the dish, if you don't want to make them, ignore that step of the process and use premade fries.

The recipe fed my husband and I, but we were really hungry, so it could feed three. To increase, just add however much you want of each ingredient.

Food Needed:
Potatoes (we used 7 small Red Potatoes)
Meat (1/2 lb. to 3/4 lb.)
Cheese
Queso Sauce (we ended up using most of the container, but we also really like it)
Taco Seasoning
Salsa (optional and not pictured)

(Also used was canola oil, can use vegetable instead, and salt)

Other Things:
Fry pan to cook meat
Cooking Sheet to bake fries
Tin Foil
Big Zip Lock Bag
Knife
Cutting Board
Bowl (big enough to hold potatoes once cut up)

Your oven will need to be at 450 degrees. Our oven heats up fast so we waited until we were all ready.

Clean your potatoes and cut out any disgusting eyes. We did not peel them, but you can if you hate the peels.

Cut them in to fry wedges.

Soak them. We have had bad experience baking fries before and this time we found soaking, them to get some of the starch off, seemed to help them from sticking to the tin foil. Dry them after they have soaked for a little bit.

Put them in a bag with canola oil and about 1 and 1/2 tsp. of taco seasoning and a pinch of salt. Mix it up really good so they are all coated with the oil and seasoning. Spread a sheet of tin foil on a baking sheet and put your fries on the foil. Spread them out a bit, if you can, so they don't stick together.

Put them in the oven, we ended up having them in for 28 minutes. Go until they are starting to brown, but don't burn them.

Once they are done, take them out (turn off the oven, you are done with it) and carefully take them off the foil and put them in a bowl, or on plates.

Get Your Other Ingredients Ready

Cook up your meat and add your taco seasoning according to the package; with the amount of meat we had, we used about half of the taco seasoning packet. Shred your cheese and you are ready to put together your dish.

Take your bowl, or plates, of fries and add your meat, then your queso sauce, and top with shredded cheese. We also added a bit of salsa on top.

Enjoy

Now that your dish is assembled, eat up and think about how it was inspired by a delicacy from Ireland.

Doesn't it look great!
