TYPE-C Power Extraction and Adapter Tool Tutorial Based on FPC Flexible Circuit Board

This project involves a TYPE-C interface adapter module with a 5.1kΩ identification resistor. When connected to a power-supported device, it can extract 5V from a C to C cable and provide a USB data line, enabling the conversion of USB 2.0 A-type devices to a TYPE-C interface.
Supplies
1.Components : Specifications/Remarks
2.FPC soft board : needs to be cut according to the design drawing
3.Type-C interface : 16pin patch type (fixed column needs to be polished)
4 . 5.1k resistor 0603 package: 2 pieces
5. Welding tools soldering iron: solder paste, flux, etc.
Cutting the FPC Board:

Take a piece of FPC flexible circuit board and cut along the white line on the front of the board.
Sanding the TYPE-C Interface:

Take a 16-pin surface-mount TYPE-C connector and sand down the four mounting pillars on both sides to make soldering easier. I used 400-grit sandpaper for sanding. Be extra careful not to damage the pins while sanding.

Soldering

Apply solder to the FPC board and proceed with soldering.Note: Using a soldering stencil is not mandatory. If your manual soldering skills are good, you can directly solder the TYPE-C connector, but this may require some expertise.
- First, solder the sanded TYPE-C connector.

- Pay special attention to the 16 pins and 4 mounting pillars to ensure proper soldering and avoid solder bridges or cold joints.

- Finally, solder the two 5.1kΩ resistors.
After soldering, carefully check for any soldering defects to ensure the connections are secure. Then, clean the board, and the assembly is complete.
