TV Tuner
1. electromagnetic radiation
2. Electromagnetic spectrum (The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of frequencies (the spectrum) of electromagnetic radiation and their respective wavelengths and photon energies.
3. Theory and practice of modified frequency modulation synthesis.
4. frequency demodulation synthesis (digital frequency demodulation synthesis (PLL)).
5. Programmable phase-locked Loop (PLL) by using the I2C protocol Arduino.
6. Intermediate frequency (IF) (is a frequency to which a carrier wave is shifted as an intermediate step in transmission or reception.
So for this project, I got:
Digital TV tuner to receive digital TV broadcasts and an analog TV tuner to receive FM radio and from Sony it transmits at 915 MHZ, I did manage to tune to civilian broadcast radio through the analog TV tuner by using an amplifier antenna, I did hear the truckers driver because my house is close to the highway, Sony cassette as my audio amplifier.
I did program everything using visual code IDE and platform IO.
I did explain the phase-locked loop in detail in another Instructables project.
and I did explain the vacuum fluorescent display in detail in another Instructables project.
Supplies
I got Digital TV box from goodwill store for $6 and sony sounds system transmiter for $7 it transmit at 915 MHZ,and analog tv tuner from an old tv, old Sony cassette, two vacuum fluorescent display from old device, sound analog multiplexer ic from an old tv, two IR receiver from old device, old printer power supply 32v to power the vfd,old transform to power the cassette, old tv remote control. Two Arduino nano and arduino seeeduino xiao microcontroller. Three SN75518 shift register for the two vacuum fluorescent display.
Wiring the VFD
The first vacuum fluorescent display it has 14 digits consist of 5×7 Dot-matrix in the first row and icons and 7 segments two digits and 14 segments 9 digits in the second row. i did use two SN75518 vacuum fluorescent display driver, one for segments and one for grids. Each shift register has 32 bit,
The second vacuum fluorescent display it has 13 segments 9 digits in the first row and icons in the second row. i did use one SN75518 vacuum fluorescent display driver to control segments and grids.
For the first vacuum fluorescent display I did use Arduino seeeduino Xiao to control the two shift register and to receive data from any Arduino board over I2C
