TV Bias Lighting
Watching a bright TV in a dark room hurts your eyes. The idea is that lighting that is placed behind the screen to raise the ambient light levels in the viewing area, without directly shining light toward the viewer, nor shining light past the viewer toward the screen. If you do the later it could create reflections and other viewing problems.
I had some parts left over from the RGB fish tank project, so threw this together in around 20 minutes.
What You'll Need
- LED Strip lights
- Method for controlling them.
- Power supply.
You can use any colour LED's you like. I used RGB because it's what I had spare. Being able to tune the colour has proven useful.
Putting It Together
- Peel the cover off the self adhesive tape on the back of the strip
- Stick the strip to the back of the tv
- Tape the controller to the back of the tv
- Make sure the receiver is in a position that works
- Plug in the power supply
- Connect the strip to the controller
- And the controller to the power supply
The Result
It makes a big difference.
I tuned the colour to match the paint on my wall. That shade seemed to work best for me.
I like the idea of using some light sensors to automate the control of the lights. That's one for future development.000
