THERM -Through Heat Empowering Rural Man

Dramatic climatic conditions in Indian cities have posed challenges before people ever since. Inadequate clothing puts into deep slumber thousands of homeless people every year. It is sad that clothing is not a part of United Nations' seven Millennium Development goals.

On the other hand waste management has been a very popular area of debates , discussions and research.

The above two challenges are being addressed by THERM in a meaningful manner.

Nearly 625metric tons of peanut is produced in India in four major states.Out of which 90% of it is used for making oil. The shells of peanut are thrown away as waste or are used as fodder for animals.

Considering the waste peanut shells , THERM was developed.

The peanut pods or shells have low thermal conductivity and appreciable insulating properties.The shells are collected .

The collected shells are then crushed to form powder.

The peanut powder is then packed into a waterproof bag and is stitched to form small pockets. This will pack the filler in one place and allow minimum movement.

You can select textile as per your needs. But we recommend parachute cloth. The image here shows the hemmed garment . The garment contains the peanut fillers.

You can wear this and make your self feel coaxing in cold winters.
