TAAS – Table Assistant A normal table has been integrated with robotics, increasing its capability to help in household things. It can morph itself from a normal table to four wheeled robot. It has a smart table top that can detect the objects placed on it and can be connected to home automation system. The table top is virtually classified into segments. The table can then be taught (using an app) to make decisions based on things placed on top (in different segments). Eg: If segment one is taught for presence of house keys (main door) - every time the keys are not on table, it signifies the house is locked and the lights can be automatically switched off. Even comparing the presence of two things present on top can be used to take decisions. To help it automatically navigate, retractable links with motorized wheels are placed. The grid of sensors will help avoid obstacles while navigating. The lower part has an attachment for charging dock. Using its ability to move it can dock itself on the charging pad when required. Other than autonomous navigation, even a manual control can be used through the app. It’s a table but can do much more than just holding things. TAAS is an example of how robotics can blend in with household articles making them more functional.
