Sweet and Savory Breakfast
I made a quiche and blueberry pancakes. It may be an odd combination, but you get the best of both worlds: sweet and savory. These two dishes are also some of my favorites in the morning, and I hope you do too! If you make it, I hope you like it as much as I do!
Supplies
Quiche:
6 eggs
bacon bits (or another meat, or no meat)
pie crust
sour cream
cheese
pie pan
onion *not pictured*
Blueberry pancakes:
2 cups pancake mix
1 cup of milk
blueberries
1 egg
sliced strawberries
baking soda
cinnamon
almond extract
vegetable oil *not pictured*
Starting With the Quiche: Put Eggs in a Bowl
Put the six eggs in a medium size bowl. you don’t have to mix yet.
Also, preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Sauté Onions and Put Some Bacon In
Slice the onions, like in picture #1. Then put them in a pan on medium heat. After that, put in some bacon bits, or the meat or no meat of your choice. Then mix and leave alone until onions turn a translucent color.
Add Sour Cream to Egg Mixture
Add half a cup of sour cream to the egg mixture we made in step 1. Now you will want to mix until it looks like the second picture. It may look somewhat gross, but I promise it won’t taste how it looks now.
Add Cheese
Now add cheese to the egg mixture we have, and fold in. I am using Colby jack. But you can use whatever cheese you’d like.
Add Bacon and Onions
By Now, the bacon and onions should be ready, so you can go ahead and add them to the egg mixture and mix thoroughly.
Preparing the Pie Crust
Next, you will lay out the pie crust in your pie pan, and make sure it is mostly flat. Then, with a fork, you will want to poke a couple holes in the crust to provide ventilation. I used the same fork I mixed the egg mixture with.
Pour
Now you will just want to pour in your egg mixture into the pie crust.
Oven
Now just put it in the oven for 30 minutes, or until it no longer is jiggly.
End Result (Quiche)
This is what it looks like once out of the oven. It tastes delicious, I have already eaten half by myself.
Pancakes
At two cups of pancake mix. And 1/4 cup of sugar.
Adding More Ingredients
Add a dash of vegetable oil, dash of cinnamon, and one teaspoon of almond extract.
Add Egg
Add the one egg to the mixture
Mix
Mix all of the ingredients together. It should look like this.
Pan
To cook, get either butter or cooking spray so the pancake doesn’t stick to the pan. Have the heat a little bit below medium.
Put in Pan
Get 1/4 cup of the pancake mixture and put into the hot pan. Then, sprinkle some blueberries on top. Once it starts to have bubbles in the middle, flip it over.
Flipped Over Pancake
The flipped over pancake looks like this. Next you will want to put it on a plate, and add some of the sliced strawberries. I also added a dollop of whipped cream.
