Lots of campers swear by the S'mores technique. Some use tinfoil to wrap up their marshmallow sandwich and others use the "roast then squish" technique.

What I love most about S'mores is the golden and crunchy part of the roasted marshmallow and the gooeyness of the melted chocolate! Mmm.

Here's the way I make S'mores

Gather Your Ingredients

You can buy S'more kits in most grocery stores now! These come with marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. You can also buy each of those ingredients.

Find yourself a good roasting stick for the marshmallows. A good roasting stick is both long enough to stay away from the fire and strong enough to hold up the marshmallow in the heat.

Note: I have in the past bought the digestive cookies with chocolate already on them however the ratio of chocolate to cookie was not quite what I liked it at.

Melt and Roast

Add 2-3 squares of Hershey's chocolate to one graham cracker. Put these on the edge of the fire grill to get the heat of the fire without the flame.

While the chocolate is melting, roast your marshmallow. A good bed of coals in the fire is essential is roasting the perfectly golden marshmallow.

Tips: keep a steady rotation of the marshmallow stick so it cooks evenly and slowly. This will give it the golden and crunchy texture as oppose to just melting or burning.

Sandwich and Squish

Once the marshmallow is adequately toasted and the chocolate is melted, add the marshmallow carefully to the sandwich and remove it from the stick by squishing the other half of the graham cracker.

Be careful not to eat it too quickly because the melted chocolate and marshmallow can be very hot!

Enjoy!
