Sweet Corn Sticks
A different approach to make a corn snack with added flavors. I have made these crispy corn sticks with peri-peri masala on wooden toothpicks.
Ingredients
- Sweet corn
- Wooden skewers/ toothpicks
- Lemon
- Peri-peri masala
- Flour
Preparing the Corn
Remove the husk of the corn and wash the corn before cooking.
Measure the size of the wooden skewer/ toothpick (here I used toothpicks) and cut the corncob leaving 0.5cm on either side.
Now, cut each corncob into two equal parts through the middle.
Insert the wooden toothpicks through the corn grains.
By applying pressure to the side, remove the grains with toothpick.
Boil the Corn
Now, cook the corn sticks in boiling water for 2-3 mins. Add a pinch of salt in the water while boiling.
Freeze the Corn
After cooking completely, take out the corn and cool them for 1 min. Now add some flour, a pinch of salt and black pepper powder and mix them and keep them in deep freezer for 10-15 mins before frying.
Frying the Corn
After refrigerating for 10-15 mins, take out the corn. Heat oil in a frying pan, and fry the corn in batches carefully until crisp and golden brown.
Peri-Peri Masala
For the peri peri masala, mix 1 tsp Maggie masala, 1 tsp Red chili powder, 1 tsp garam masala(hot spice mixture), 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp black pepper powder and finally 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp salt.
Serve Hot!!!
Squeeze some lemon on the top and garnish the corn sticks with the prepared peri-peri masala mix. It is all ready to be served hot with some cheese dip and tomato ketchup(suggested serving).
