Suzume Sota 3-legs Chair
This instructables show how to use a chopstick or bamboo stick to build a Sota(草太) 3-legs chair in the anime movie Suzume no Tojimari(すずめの戸締まり).
Supplies
Any round sticks rod in hand.
3D Printing
Please download the STL model at Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5935129
The STL model is only 2 wood plates, it still need some round wood rod to become legs and connectors.
So before you print it, please check what round wood rod you have in hand.
The STL size is assume the round wood rod with diameter 10 mm. In most case you should scale the model before print it.
For examples:
If you are using 5 mm wood chopstick, please scale down to 50%;
If you are using 3 mm bamboo stick, please scale down to 30%.
Cut the Rod
The cutting rod length is a little bit arbitrary.
For the 3 mm bamboo stick, I cut the 20 mm long leg and 15 mm long connector.
I think the leg can be a little bit longer and the connector can be a little bit shorter.
And please cut the rod in proportion for other size rod.
Assembly
Coloring (Optional)
Coloring the 3D printed wood plate with yellow paint marker can make it more like a real painted wood chair.
Standing Firm!
Shinkai brought onto the stage a small three-legged chair (a prop in the animated film), symbolizing that while life may have disappointments and regrets, three legs are enough for “standing firm.”
