Sustainable Sparkle: Eco-Friendly Christmas Earrings - Repurpose Old Christmas Decor Into Festive Jewelry!
I had some Christmas decorations that I didn't care to use to decorate my house. I really liked the sparkly apples and decided to make them into earrings! Hopefully, this Instructable will inspire someone else to repurpose before buying fast fashion jewelry this Christmas.
Supplies
- Variety of Christmas decor. You can get creative with this, or find items similar to mine.
- Hooks for earrings. Make this even more sustainable by using hooks from a pair you don't wear anymore!
- B-7000 glue (be sure to follow safety tips on glue)
- Scissors
- Pliers
Gather Your Christmas Decor
Choose the Christmas decorations that you will use. For this project, I used just the little apples from a small decoration piece. I simply pulled them off of the plastic "stem".
Add Details
The apples that I chose had a spot at the bottom that didn't have glitter. I didn't like how that looked so I cut about 2" of garland for each earring. I used a generous amount of B-7000 glue and made a "nest" out of the garland for each apple.
Add Hooks
Use pliers to open the ring on the bottom of the hooks. Place around the narrow part of the stem and use pliers to close back.
Finished!
Enjoy your repurposed festive earrings!
