Gastronomy is as ancient as mankind itself, since we found the need to evolve and adapt in order to survive. This type of evolution goes hand in hand with the specialization in society  form the primates, to hunters and collectors, developed country, up to our current society.

 The project being presented is about sushi.

Types of Sushi

Sushi has been spread all over the world, but many people don´t know exactly how many types of sushi exist. The following are some types of sushi:

Nigiri Sushi

Maki Sushi

Oshi Sushi

Temaki Sushi

Uramaki Sushi


 

Ingredients

Sushi Ingredients:

Japanese Rice

Rice Vinegar

Salt

Sugar

Filling

Sushi Filling

Fish: Salmon and tuna

Sea Food: Squid, Shrimp, Sea Urchin, Crab and Octopus.

Fish Roe

Vegetables: Fermented soy-beans, avocado, cucumber and plumbs

2 tea cups of the Japanese rice

1/4 tea cups of rice vinegar

2 table spoons of salt

1/4 tea cups of sugar

Heat the vinegar, sugar and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until sugar and salt are completely dissolved in the vinegar.

Maintain the temperature of the fire, do not let the vinegar boil

Now to prepare the rice. Wash it in cold water with care. The rice should be washed as often as necessary until the water is transparent. Let the rice soak for about 15 minutes.

In a pot, put 2 cups of boiling water and cook the rice over low heat, with the pot covered or semi covered, until the water evaporates. After the initial boiling, keep the pot covered at all times, as the steam makes the rice sticky and slightly compact. Once cooked, let the rice in the pan for 15 minutes.

The cooked rice is added to the mixture that had been prepared with vinegar, using a wooden spoon.

Final Step

Finally, the filler is added to the mixture after it´s done, and it´s ready to eat.
