Superhero Easter Eggs
I have created Superhero Easter Eggs with my younger Brother Leon who is 12 years old. Him and I both love superhero's and art so we came up with this super cool and simple craft project which involves drawing on real eggs using coloured permanent markers. The superhero eggs can be stored in a recycled egg carton and the contents of the egg can be used to make scrambled eggs, so there is minimal waste with this design. This is a great project to explore your creativity and teach to children.
Supplies
- One egg
- Coloured sharpies/permanent markers
- Roll of paper towel
- Pencil and rubber
- Screw
- Push Pin
- Small bowl
- Sink
Most of these supplies can be brought at local convenience stores or craft shops.
Make a Small Hole in the Egg
Place a small bowl on the table in case the next few steps get messy. Holding the egg over the bowl push a pin into the top of the egg (or whichever side you want to be the top of your superhero). You could also use a screwdriver with a small drill bit for this step, however I found that using a push pin was easiest.
Make a Larger Hole in the Egg
Use a screw to make a larger hole on the bottom of the egg which should be opposite to the small hole. You could also use a screwdriver with a larger drill bit roughly 2-3mm in diameter.
Blow the Contents of the Egg Out
Blow into the smaller hole of the egg. The contents of the egg should come out of the larger hole that you just made. Use a paper towel to wipe the egg before you blow if you don't want an eggy taste in your mouth. Make sure that the yolk and egg white goes into the bowl, so you can use it to make scrambled eggs or an omelette.
Wash the Egg
Thoroughly rinse the egg under warm water to remove any egg white or yolk which may still be present. Also fill the egg with water and blow it out the larger hole to cleanse the inside of the egg. Once you have finished rinsing the egg then dry it using a paper towel.
Draw the Design Using Pencil
On the egg outline your design lightly with a pencil. Use a rubber if you need to fix mistakes. Draw the design all the way around the egg, don't just do the front. Make sure the dimensions and features stay fairly consistent all the way around the egg. You don't want to have one ear bigger than the other.
Draw the Design Using Coloured Sharpies
Using your pencil sketches as guidelines colour in the egg using the sharpies/permanent markers. Start off with the lighter colours such as yellow, pink, blue. Save the darker colours such as purple and black till last because once you use these dark colours you can't draw over the top of them with lighter colours.
Display Your Superhero Easter Egg
After all your hard work you can finally display your superhero egg.
Try making more superhero eggs until you have a whole collection of them. Get your whole family involved in making the eggs so you can share the fun with others.
