Super Easy Shawl
This shawl is very easy and quick to make! I made it to match the dress I crocheted! All you need to know is how to crochet chain stitch and slip stitch! If you want a bit of a rim on the top like I have, you also need to know single crochet.
Supplies
You need a size G crochet hook, some scissors, and of course, some yarn. I used about 6 ounces of DK weight (double knitting weight) yarn for this small shawl. You will want some more yarn if you are going to make this bigger than a child's size. You also need a little bit of yarn of a different color for the trim.
Foundation
First you need to chain to the desired width. I chained about 125. Then do one row of single crochet (optional). Next, chain 4. Skip 3 stitches and do a slip stitch in the 4th. Continue this to the end of the row.
Crocheting the Shawl
Now you should have a row of single crochet(or a chain) with a bunch of loops coming up. Chain 4 and do a slip stitch on one of the loops. Crochet 3 or 4 rows like this. At 4th(or 5th) row, increase by double the amount. That means that you should crochet 2 stitches in each hole instead of one stitch. Do this for a whole row. Complete the whole shawl with this stitch.
Trim!
For the trim crochet 5 single crochet stitches in each loop. Then crochet a slip stitch. Do this for every loop. You now have a beautiful trim for your shawl! To finish, just weave in the ends.
