Super Easy Infinity Scarf

My favorite thing ever happened the other day! A friend showed up with a pile of remnants for me! In the stack, were a couple of yards of this lovely tie-died lavender. I love infinity scarves, so I decided to use a bit of this fabric to make one. I used one I already had as a pattern. I started with a rectangle that was about 70x35 inches. (This fabric was pretty sheer, so I used a pretty large rectangle to give my scarf some bulk. If you are using thicker material, like a jersey, you might want the rectangle to be a bit narrower.)

Fold the rectangle in half longways, with right sides touching. Pin the edges and sew a straight seam. Leave a few inches at either end unsewn. This will make it easier to sew the ends together later. Don't forget to do a small backstitch at each end of the seam!

Turn the scarf right side out. Now comes the bit that always gives me conniption fits! sewing the ends together! First lay the scarf out so the seam you just sewed in the middle of the scarf. put the two seams together and attach with a pin. Very carefully go around the edges and pin the rest of the seams right side to right side. This is will look a little funny and you will have to tuck the scarf into itself. When you are done, you should have something that looks like a circle.

Very carefully sew along what you have just pinned. Be very careful not to sew anything you shouldn't! The fabric will bunch a lot during this step, so take your time and be careful.

If you've done it right, you should have a small opening. Turn the scarf out through that opening. Turn the raw edges in and topstitch.

And done! You have a fashionable, cheap infinity scarf! Now make more in a bunch of different colors!
