Super-easy Recycled Bottle Vertical Garden

I was about to throw away about 20 mineral water bottles when I had this idea. I have wanted a vertical garden that would cover up an ugly wall in my backyard. This is an easy way to setup your own vertical garden, at home, with limited tools, and plastic bottles. Time to recycle!
Supplies

Things you will need:
- bottles
- a knife
- ~5 meters of metal wire.
- Pliers
- dirt + compost
- plants
- Dremel / drill
BOTTLES!!!

Collect old bottles from the roadside, dump or other source. You can also just use the bottles you have at home, instead of throwing them away.
Make the Pots

Cut the bottles using a sharp blade. I didn’t measure the halfway point, just cut where I thought was the middle of the bottle. These will act as your pots.
Drill the Holes

Drill holes using a Dremel or drill. 2 holes, 2 cm apart, worked for me.
Bend the Metal

Bend metal wire that will pass through the 2 holes. Their shape depends on where you will be hanging it.
I have a wall in my backyard that has holes in it. I bent the metal so that it would hold the pots (bottles) well enough on the wall.
Bottle + Metal = Pot for Vertical Garden

Thread the metal through the bottles.
Dirt + Plant

Fill the pots with dirt. Half sand half compost works for me. Plant seeds or small plants in each of the pots. Water every evening (according to the type of plant.)
Feel Good About Yourself

Enjoy your vertical garden. You have now successfully recycled many old bottles that might have gone to the dump! If you are worried about aesthetics, choose plant types that grow and hang over their pot, so they cover up the plastic bottles.
