Super-cheap Robot Floor Cleaner

While playing around with an Easter gift, my 6-year-old son came up with a fantastic idea; have his Hexbug that was scurrying around the floor and under furniture do some cleaning! One Hexbug had wedged itself under the TV cabinet and came out totally covered in dust bunnies (yes, we're normal, and not super clean neat freaks). We sliced up a dry Swiffer Sweeper pad and taped it to the 'bug. Success! Not hard, but what a great way to make your floors clean with only a little bit of effort (play).

Start with a standard Hexbug.

Mr. Lightbeer is calling for double sided tape. . . We use 3M's Scotch!

Okay, so this is probably the most complex step. . . Cut the Swiffer into strips. We talked about the possibility of attaching more than one Hexbug to the full sheet, but I wasn't ready to concede the house to a wild pack of robots just yet. It could work, but it would be for houses and jobs larger than ours.

Activate interlock! Dynotherms connected! Infracells up! Mega thrusters are go! LET'S GO VOLTRON FORCE!

Uh. Stick the Swiffer strip onto the tape on top of the Hexbug. Just be sure to get the coarse (sweeping) side towards the floor.

Let 'er Rip!
