These treats are super easy to make and takes about 20 minutes to whip up.

All you need:

1lb of chicken livers

1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 cup of all purpose flour
1 cup corn meal

Also:

Bowl
Spoon
18"x13" Jelly roll pan (or cookie sheet)

Pour your chicken livers into the blender and hit purée.

If you can't find the livers in your local grocery store, ask someone in the meat department. They aren't big sellers, so they usually keep them in the back freezer.

Add a Egg

After the livers have turned to a lovely reddish slurry, add 1 egg.

Secret Ingredient

Now it's time to give these treats some flavor. Add in one Tablespoon of garlic powder. Mix for another minute or so.

Garlic is like dog catnip. Dogs love garlic.

While fresh garlic is not good for dogs because they can't digest the fiber, garlic powder is OK and passes through just fine.

Time for the Dry Ingredients

After about a minute or so of pureeing, the mixture should be a uniform pale red. Put 1 cup flour and 1 cup corn meal in a bowl. Add the purée and mix well with a spoon. Once Incorporated it should be the consistency of thick cake batter.

Put It in a Pan

Spray your jelly pan with a light coat of cooking spray, or use non stick aluminum foil like I did.

Pour out the liver batter in the pan. Mixture is rather thick. Spread it out with a spoon to an even thickness (about 3/8").

Pop Em in the Oven

Put the pan into your preheated 400° oven for 15 minutes.

Tip: After 5 minutes lightly pierce with a fork to avoid bubbling.

I cut my treats with a bread knife into 1"x½" pieces. My dog is very small and this size is perfect to give as is or break in half.

My bread knife is 1" wide so its easy to measure and cut. You can also use a pizza cutter with a straight edge, cut shapes with a cookie cutter or simply tear into hunks like a cave man.

Happy Dog!

Let them cool before giving to your dog. Even if they beg really cute.

My dog goes crazy when I make these. They are aromatic and really gets her attention.

Enjoy!

Check with your vet if your pet has food allergies, intestinal issues or is on medications before making these.

I have never substituted any of these ingredients. If you do, your results will vary. I do not know what will happen if you do, so please don't ask in the comments....I don't know.

Cooking time will vary if made thicker or thinner. By how much? Again, please don't ask...I don't know.

It's a very simple recipe, with 5 ingredients, don't try to complicate it.

Please refrain from offering a better way to do it in the comments. If you have a better way, make an Instructable about it.

If you already made comments and asked silly questions I addressed above, you obviously didn't read this far down. Makes you feel silly right?

I personally feel that people who spoil their pets get exactly what they deserve...unconditional love!
