Super Easy Knit Pumpkin for People Who Have Never Knit in Their Life

This is how to make the most easy knit pumpkin ever. This is great for people who have never knit or crocheted a day in their life, because I have made very specific instructions for you. A lot of knitting and crochet patterns consist of crazy terms that not even I, a frequent knitter and crocheter understand. This project is also great because you can make a cute pumpkin using any color yarn you want! If you have that one ugly colored yarn that is not a great for scarves, hats, or anything, it will make a cute pumpkin guaranteed!

The items you will need for this project are:

1. A hat loom, I'm using the smallest size, but you can use a bigger one to make a bigger pumpkin.

2. A hat loom needle, aka, a loom pick.

2. A yarn needle

3. A crochet needle, medium

4. A brown or green yarn for the stem, or a short thick twig/cinnamon stick.

5. One chunky yarn, or two regular yarns that go well together, any colors.

6. Polyester stuffing

7. A pair of sharp scissors.

This video will teach you the basics of how to use the hat loom, and how to crochet the stem of the pumpkin.

After you have watched my video and begun knitting the pumpkin body, you are simply going until you reach 7-8 inches long. The pictures above are of my progress. If you are like me and you just can't sit still, and get bored easily, you can do your knitting while watching tv. It's a great way to be motivated to actually do the knitting :D

After you have reached 7-8 inches, you are going to take your yarn and cut it off, leaving a pretty large tail, about 20 inches. Then, you are going to thread the yarn through the yarn needle, and start pulling the needle through each loop on each peg, going all the way around.

Once the needle has gone through each loop and the yarn has been threaded all the way around, gently pull the yarn off of each loop. Once the entire item is off the loom, gently pull the yarn until the hole is completely closed. Make sure you tie is off tightly so that it doesn't open up.

At this point you have a small hat suitable for a baby, or if you used a bigger loom you have that size hat. Congratulations you now know haw to make a hat! :D

This step is super easy, just fill your pumpkin body with polyester fill. make sure that you don't put too much like I did, because I put so much that you could see the fill through the yarn.

Next you are going to cut a long piece of yarn, about 20 inches again, and thread the yarn needle.

Now you are going to thread the needle through the INSIDE of the hole and tie the end to keep it in place.

Now you are going to sew in and out all the way around the edge of the hole, making sure to stay about 2 centimeters away from the edge, and making sure that your stiches aren't too far away from each other. When you have gone all the way around, pull the yarn like you did for the other side, closing the hole. There will be some extra knitted part sticking out of the closed hole, simply use your finger to push it inside of the pumpkin, and make sure you have a tight grip on the yarn that is holding the hole closed.

Now, still making sure you are holding the yarn tightly, you are going to thread the needle and yarn straight through the middle of the pumpkin. This will make the pumpkin have the more squat...well... pumpkin shape.

now you are going to take that same yarn and needle, bring it over the side of the pumpkin, and thread it straight through the middle AGAIN.* This will make one of the little grooves that pumpkins have. you are just going to repeat that process until you have about 6 evenly spaced grooves on your pumpkin.

*Make sure you are keeping a tight firm grip on your yarn the entire process of adding grooves, otherwise the grooves will not be as prominent.

now you are just going to tie the yarn of tightly, at the bottom of the pumpkin. Make sure you tie it at the bottom so that the top of your pumpkin looks nice and clean.

For the stem you can do one of two things(unless you make more than one pumpkin then you can do as many as you want):

1. You can take any short thick twig or cinnamon stick, and stick it into the top of the pumpkin.

or

2. You can follow the instructions in my video on how to crochet, and make about 8 stiches on the first row and add as many rows as you like, to make a stem and then sew it on the pumpkin.

It is completely up to you and your taste!
