Super Easy Infrared Like Pictures (Photoshop)

This is an Instructable explaining how to create "infrared" like images. These are not actual infrared images, the just look like them, but it is still a cool effect!

1. You will need some image editing software, this includes Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or other. It needs to have image/color adjustment capabilities. I will be using Photoshop CS2, any photoshop version will make it easy to follow along.
2. You will need a photo to doctor, I will be using one of the sample pictures included in xp called water lillies

Open Photshop and then go File>Open... then open the file you want to doctor. it should look like the picture below.

Goto Image>Adjustments>Gradient map. Click the box with the already set gradient, another dialog box should pop up. At the top is a bunch of gradients, click the rainbow, if you hover your mouse over it it should say spectrum. Hit okay

If you want the image to have the opposite colors click the reverse tick box at the bottom of the gradient map dialog box

Click ok to get out of the gradient dialog box, and your done, save it as whatever you want.
