Super Easy Home Made Fast Fizzing Soap Bombs!

soap bombs.jpg

Ahh, a relaxing bath! Who can resist the opportunity to have a moment of 'me time'? Why not make it a Therapeutic Environment by adding some Soap Bombs?!! Add some essential oil to have added benefit...Choose an oil that will suit your needs or your friends...as this is a great gift. Its fun for both adults and kids.

Don't have a bathtub?? Don't worry, they are still effective in a foot bath or even the shower, as the water will make them dissolve and release the aroma of the oils into the steam!

What You Will Need

1/2 cup of Citric Acid

1/2 cup of Baking Soda

1/4 cup of Cornstarch (or you can use Arrowroot powder instead)

1/4 cup of Oil - (I used Coconut oil but you can use any oil like Olive Oil)

Silicone Mold

Extras

4-6 drops of your Favorite Essential Oil

Food Coloring

Dried Herbs

Flower Petals, just for some ideas!

Mix It Together...

Just mix the Citric Acid, Baking Soda, Cornstarch, and your oil all together in a bowl. It will be lumpy, so you may want to get your hands in there...it should be clumping together like a soft dough, not to wet, if it is, just add a little more Baking Soda and Cornstarch until it comes together like damp sand.

Add in the Extas

I added blue food coloring, and Grapefruit essential oil. But you can put it what ever you fancy! Here are some tips on the essential oils

Clear Breathing

Peppermint

Eucalyptus

Cypress

Calming

Lavender

Bergamot

Cleansing/Energizing

Lemon

Orange

Grapefruit

Geranium

Ginger

Melaleuca

Hopefully this will give you some ideas on what you could put into your 'bombs'!

Press Into a Mold and Let Set

I covered my silicone molds with cling wrap to make sure they will come out nicely. Press your mixture firmly into your molds ( you can use any mold big or small, like cupcake molds, just use cupcake liners so they will come out nicely)

They will take at lease 24 hours to set and dry out. Make sure you put them in a place where they wont get wet!

Ready to Use!

Yes! Once they are completely dry, pop them out of the molds. If they are not completely dry, they will crumble coming out of the molds. No matter the shape (i.e. if they do crumble) or size just drop them into the bathtub, foot bath or shower, and enjoy! :)
