Super Cheap DIY Bluetooth Headphones

Hey! Welcome to my first Instructable. In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to make Bluetooth headphones for under $10.

Supplies

• Bluetooth audio receiver ~ $8

• Normal wired headphones ~$1 to $15

• (optional) 3.5mm female audio jack

• At least beginning skills in soldering

Disassemble the Receiver

Remove any screwed and glue holding it together. Here is what mine looked like:

(Optional) Add Audio Jack

If you want to be able to disconnect the headphones and use different ones, do this step. In my case, green is right or R, blue is left or L, and copper is GND. It may be different for you, check the product page to be sure.

Soldering Part 1

If you didn’t do step two, do this. Strip your headphone wires. If your headphones have three wires on the inside, perfect! Just solder the wires as shown in step 2 but without the audio jack! If they have 2 in the outside and 4 on the inside, like me, follow me through step four.

Solder Part 2

If the wires of you headphones look like this, don’t fret! Since this is usually specific to your model of headphones, do some research and find out which are the ground, left, and right wires. There will be two grounds or one ground with the other wire for the microphone. If there is a microphone wire, just cut it off. Then wire it up like normal (step 2)! Now you have Bluetooth headphones! To make them look better, move on to step 5.

Make It Look Good!

Now, if your headphones are on ear or at least have some good size to them (mine don’t), you can disassemble them. Then, using some glue, mount the Bluetooth receiver in the empty space. Use a rotary tool to drill out holes for the power button and charger. You are now done!
