Super Awsome Truffles (great Bridesmaid Gifts)
These are so delish and super easy (although a little messy to make). I thought about calling these bridesmaid balls or hunnymoon balls but I thought both might be a little to... well suggestive, lol.
I had two full sheets of these last night to post pictures of. Some were regular chocolate shells, others were white chocolate, and I had some of both that had coconut sprinkled on top. Unfortunately I woke this morning to find my husband had snagged all but 9 of them to bring to work with him. He got a phone call at work about that one, lol. So all I have to show pics of for the finished product are the plain chocolate ones. Those are my favorites but I was told the others were gone when he walked in the door so everyone must have thought they were pretty good.
Here's what you need:
2 - 8oz packs of cream cheese
1 - pack of oreos
2 - packages of semisweet chocolate chips
Or you can substitute a package of semisweet with a package of white chocolate.

Step One
Ok first things first grind up your oreos. Yes, the entire package. I see you put that cookie down. ;-)
I used a blender on the grate settings and ground up 1/4 of the cookies and then dumped it in my big bowl, then another 1/4, and so on. WOOHOO! Oreo cookie dust! ..... Nope can't eat it yet. If you don't have a blender just put the cookies in a bag and attack them with a can of beans.
Now is when that mixer would come in handy! Mix up those mashed cookies with your two packages of cream cheese. I add in one package at a time to make it easier.

Step 2
Good job you now have a bowl full of very tasty mud looking stuff. Hey! Get your finger out of the bowl! You need a cookie sheet or something to put your balls on first. Got it? Ok good. Now wash your hands real good and dig in. Well kind of.... You need to start pulling out lumps and rolling them into balls and the easiest way is with your fingers. You want these a little bigger then half the size of a golf ball. Gob them into your hand and roll them into a ball. Now plop it onto your cookie sheet. You'll end up with a pretty good amount of these. It all depends on how big you make your balls as to how many you'll get but I think I usually get around 40ish. When you finish put them in the fridge.
Sorry no pic for this step. My hands were to messy to hold my camera. ;-)

Step 3
While that's cooling in the fridge you need to melt your chocolate. I don't have any fancy pots for this like a lot of people do so I do one of two things. I either use a metal mixing bowl and hold it over a hot burner to slowly melt it. Or I do things the easy way that won't burn me and I pop it in the microwave for about 15 seconds at a time. I suggest useing around 1/3 of the chocolate at a time. If you use to much at a time you run the risk of burning it. No one likes burnt chocolate. It's a waste of time, a waste of money, and most importantly a waste of chocolate which I'm pretty sure is one of the 7 deadly sins.
Step 4
Now pull out around 10 to 15 balls and start rolling them in the chocolate. Let the others sit and stay cool while you make your first batch. Once you've done that swap them our for another batch. If you plan to add anything like coconut or crushed nuts or anything to the tops then do that before you put them in the fridge so it sticks to the wet chocolate. If you're planning to drizzle the top with a contrasting color or chocolate then do that after they have hardened in the fridge.
Woohoo! You're done. Now you can lick your fingers (I know you've been wanting to this entire time) and then wash your hands and pat yourself on the back. Go to the dollar store and get some of those cute little wedding candy boxes and pack them full. Now you have lovely bridesmaid gifts that are sure to make everyone week at the knees and thick in the dress. Hehe, oh yeah be sure you give them out AFTER the wedding if you want them to fit into their dresses. Or if you want to be sure you look the best out of everyone when you walk the isle I suppose your could give them out before hand. ;-)
