This instructable will teach you how to make these colorful and floral nail art designs, perfect for the summer season. They are easy to make and require only a toothpick.

Gather Your Materials and Prep Nails

The first step to creating these nail art designs is gathering your materials. For this project, you will need

  • Nail Polish Remover
  • A cotton ball or pad
  • Nail Polish
    • A solid color for the base - Mint
    • A color for the flowers - Black
    • A glitter - Silver glitter
    • A top coat to seal in the design
  • A dotting tool or toothpick

Once you have gathered your materials, prepare your nails by cleaning them off with nail polish remover to remove any excess oils or leftover nail polish from a previous design.

Paint on the Base Color

Start off this design by painting your pointer finger, ring finger, pinky, and thumb the base color. Make sure to leave the middle finger blank, as this will be our glitter nail. If needed, paint on two coats to ensure the color is opaque. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Paint the Glitter Nail

Use your glittery nail polish to paint your middle fingernail. If needed, make sure to paint two coats to ensure the glitter is opaque. Refer to the images above to see the final result. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Painting on the Flowers Part 1

To paint on the flower design you will first need to create the center of the flower. Use a dotting tool/toothpick and the glitter nail polish used in the previous step to create a small circle for the center of the flowers. I chose to paint three flowers but you can paint more or less depending on the size of your nail. Refer to the images above to see the final result. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Painting on the Flowers Part 2

To paint on the petals, you will need black nail polish and a dotting tool/toothpick. Using the tool, paint on five small dots around the center dot to create the petals. Repeat this step for all the flowers to finish this design. Refer to the images above for reference. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Painting on the Pointer Finger Design

Use the same dotting tool and black nail polish to create the nail design for the pointer finger. Paint on 3 small dots in a line on the fingernail. Make sure to decrease the size of the dots as you go up the nail. Refer to the image above to see the final result. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Creating the Glitter Tips

For the pinky and thumb fingernails, we will be creating a glitter french tip. To do this use the side of the nail polish brush and sweep it along the edge of the nail. You may also use a dotting tool/toothpick to the paint on the edge of the nail. Repeat this step for both the pinky and thumb fingernails. Refer to the images above to see the final result. Allow the nail polish to dry completely before moving on to the next step.

Sealing in Your Design

Use a shiny top coat to seal in your designs. Make sure to allow the top coat to dry completely before touching the nails.
