With a blend of creativity and sustainability, this upcycled table not only enhances your space but also promotes eco-friendly living. Letβs dive into the step-by-step process of making this unique tea table.
Supplies
- Scale
- Pencil
- Cutter
- Old tyre
- Plywood (for top and the legs)
- Jute rope (for wrapping)
- Acrylic Sheet
- Strong adhesive or glue gun
- Epoxy
- Succulants
Binding the Ropes

- Place the three jute ropes side by side.
- Start twisting the ropes around each other tightly.
Creating the Top

- Use a jigsaw to cut a round plywood piece to fit your table top.
- Sand the edges with sandpaper for a clean, finished look.
- Drill small holes around the edges for screws.
- Secure it to the structure using screws.
Wrapping Tyre With Jute Rope

- Use a hot glue gun or a strong adhesive to fix the starting point of the jute rope on the tire.
- Ensure each strand is placed closely to the previous one without gaps for a smooth and uniform look.
- After applying glue, press the rope against the tire for a few seconds to ensure it sticks well
- Once you reach the last section, tuck the rope neatly and secure it with extra glue to prevent fraying.
Fixing the Legs

- Draw the desired shape of the legs on paper.
- Transfer the drawing onto a plywood or MDF board.
- Use a jigsaw or a scroll saw to carefully cut out the shapes.
- Sand the edges for a smooth finish.
- Mark the leg positions on the wooden board that sits on the tire.
- Use screws or nails to reinforce the connection.
Making It Top Shelf

- Use a sturdy circular Styrofoam sheet to create the mold.
- Cut a circular styrofoam sheet of the desired hollow size.
- Secure it in the center.
- Then Pour Concrete mixture around it and let it dry
- Once dry, carefully lift or twist the styrofoam sheet out.
- Unmold the entire structure gently.
- And The Tabletop is ready
A Layer of Epoxy

- Slowly pour the epoxy over the surface.
- Use a spreader or brush to even it out.
- This will give a smooth, glossy finish.
Fill Up With Greeneries

- Take a bowl and paint it.
- Place it in the centre hollow space.
- Go for low-maintenance, small plants like succulents, moss, or air plants.
- Add a layer of pebbles for texture.
- Put a layer of acrylic sheet over the greeneries to cover the area.
- Mist them occasionally and trim them to avoid overgrowth.
