Stuffed Penguin Sewing Project

I know that a lot of people loved stuffed toys, so I sewed my very own winter themed stuffed penguin. There are so many uses for this toy such as displaying it around your house, giving it as a gift, or even sleeping with it. I actually ended up making this by mistake I was going for an owl, but the dimensions weren't the ones I wanted. It looked more like a penguin, so I made one and decided to share it with you guys.

In this instructible I am going to walk you through step by step on how to make this amazing and cute penguin for yourself or for someone you know.

Cutting:

With one of your fabric patterns cut out a triangle do the same with the other pattern. These triangles will end up being the body of your penguin. Next cut out two smaller triangles using one of the patterns and two with the other. These will be used later on for your flippers.

Note: Choose your triangle sizes, it can be as big or small as you want

Sewing

Take your two body triangles and put them together right-sides in. (for those of you who don't know what that means it means put the sides you want showing on your penguin together) Now sew your triangles together along the two longer sides. Once you're finished, flip the fabric so that the pattern is now facing outward. Set this aside and grab your four smaller triangles. Do the same as you did with the larger triangles but you will have two sets. Remember: Right-sides facing inward. Now flip them so that again your patter is showing.

Making the Beak

This step is easy. Grab the body of your penguin and fold the fabric down to make the beak. Now you can either sew or glue the beak in place.

Stuffing Your Penguin

Sew the bottom of your penguin closed with a needle and thread. (But don't pull it tight yet, we still have to stuff it!) Take your stuffing and stuff your penguin. Note: If you want to weight your penguin down just leave some room for a bag of rice. Now you can pull the bottom closed and cut the thread (you can knot the thread, but you don't have to)

Closing Off the Bottom of Your Penguin

With your cardboard paper cut out a circle just large enough to cover up the bottom where you closed the penguin up. Now grab a scrap of fabric and cut it into a circle large enough to wrap around your circle and sew around the ends to completely conceal the circle. You can also hot glue it as well like I did. Hot glue to the bottom of your penguin.

The Eyes

With your black felt cut out two circles. Do the same with the white but make them small enough to fit onto the black ones. Take a black circle and hot glue a white one on top of it. Now place where you want your eye to be. Repeat this step for the other eye. Now find two buttons that fit inside the white circle and hot glue one on each eye.

The Flippers

Grab the two smaller triangle sets you put aside and hot glue to the side of your penguin. You can either leave it so that the flippers flap or glue them all the way down so that they don't.
