Stuffed Flank Steak
In this instructable, I will show you how to make stuffed flank steak.
Ingredients
For this recipe, you will need:
2-2 1/2 lbs of flank steak
Provolone cheese (I used 9 slices, but you will need enough to cover the entire steak)
3 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp basil
1 tsp rubbed sage
2 tbsp parsley
1/2 tbsp garlic, minced
1/8 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp salt
toothpicks
butchers string
In a Medium Bowl
Mix together 2 tbsp olive oil and all of the seasonings except for the salt and pepper.
1/2 the Flank
Slice the flank steak in half.
Pound the Flank Steak
Place the flank steak in between to pieces of waxed paper and pound as thin as you can get it.
Season
Spread the seasonings evenly over the steak.
Top It With the Cheese
Layer the cheese over the top.
Prepping the Toothpicks
Soak the toothpicks in a bowl of water.
Roll It Up
Roll the flank steak as tight as you can.
Tie It Off
Starting in the middle and working your way out, tie the butcher's string around the steak.
Keep on With the Tying
Tie several more strings down the meat until it is completely secure.
Slice the Meat
Cut slices of the meat between the strings
Double Secure
Put a toothpick into each section of the slice meat.
Fry It Up!
Using the last of the olive oil, fry both sides of the meat for 2-3 minutes on each side and season both with the salt and pepper.
Now for the Second Cooking
Remove from the skillet and place on an oven safe dish.
Bake!
Bake in an oven that's preheated 400• for 10 minutes.
Don't Eat the String and Tooth Pick!
Remove the string and toothpick.
Enjoy!
