Blow up your balloon the size you want your pendant light. There is no correct size. Whatever you think will look good will work!

In a glass jar mix up around 3-4 oz. water and 2 oz of wood glue. If you do not have wood glue you can also use elmers/ craft glue.

Poke a hole in the lid of the glass container. Drop the roll of string into the glass container, and shake well to coat all of the string. Thread the string through the hole in the lid.

Begin wrapping the balloon with the string. Rotate the balloon in all different directions filling up empty spaces along the way. There is no correct amount of string to put on, it is all personal preference. Once you are happy with the amount of string, set the ballon on a large cup to dry overnight.

Have a Friend/helper? Try This Method Instead!

If you have two people, unravel a large portion of the string and put it completely inside the glass jar with the water/glue mix. Shake the jar so all the string is covered with glue.

This method coats the string much better and you will have a stronger pendant light.

Wrap the Balloon

Have one person feed the string out of the jar making sure to get out all the tangles while the other person rotates the balloon around. Like the first method, wrap the balloon until desired look is met. Then set the balloon on a large cup to dry overnight.

POP the Balloon!

One of the most satisfying things about making these is popping the balloon once the string is completely dry. Pop the balloon, then get your string light bulb and feed it through the balloon. Note you may have to cut a small circle in order to fit the lightbulb inside the string orb.

Using the same string I tied the bulb inside of the orb. You can weave the string through the hardened structure making sure that it is nice and tightly knotted.

Hang the Pendant Lights and Turn It On!
