Strawberry Pizza From a Box

Strawberry pizza is one of my favorite desserts for many reasons. It has the sweetness and chewiness of sugar cookies and the freshness of strawberries. When I eat it I am reminded of family parties and summertime. I was thrilled when my aunt gave me her recipe for strawberry pizza. I was even more excited when I found out it only needed four ingredients! In my mind, this is the perfect recipe for one of the best desserts in the world. While this recipe is sweet, it is not overly sweet because it does not include a strawberry sauce. The tangy cream cheese flavor is still able to shine through the sugar, but the cream cheese is not too strong. Despite its layers of flavor, it is incredibly easy to make. By using premade cookie dough, this recipe can be whipped up in no time, for a reasonable price, and with only four ingredients. Please read on to learn how to make my family's recipe for quick and easy Strawberry Pizza.

Supplies

- Premade cookie dough

- Fresh strawberries

- 8oz Cream Cheese

- 1/2 cup white sugar

Bake Cookie Dough

The first step to make this scrumptious snack is to spread out the cookie dough in the pan. You can use a rolling pin if you have one, but I used my palm and it worked out fine. If you like a crust on your pizza, spread the dough all the way to the edge. This will make the dough rise up and cook a little more than the rest of the dough, providing much-needed stability.

Next, cook it according to the directions on the box, plus a few minutes. You will want to cook the dough for a few minutes extra so that the cream cheese doesn't tear the dough when you spread it on. Don't be worried if the dough looks overcooked, it will still be very chewy on the inside.

Mix Cream Cheese Topping

Mix an 8oz packet of room temperature cream cheese and one-half cup of sugar until thoroughly combined. This step will be much easier if you waited for the cream cheese to be room temperature, but it is still possible if you're impatient like me. It will take longer, but it will still work just fine with chilled cheese.

Slice Strawberries

Wash and thinly slice the strawberries. I used ten in order to cover a small cookie pan. You could also substitute some strawberries for another type of berry if you're feeling extra. I personally prefer just the strawberries, but the other berries would open up whole new levels of flavor.

Add Toppings

Spread the cream cheese mixture on the dough. Be careful not to apply it too rough, or else you might tear the dough. This is not a big deal because you will be covering the imperfection anyway, but as a bit of a perfectionist, it bugged me.

Now it is at last time to crown your creation with the piece of honor: the beautiful strawberry slices. You could have fun with this step and make designs out of the berries. One design that I have seen executed very well was creating the American Flag by including blueberries. Alternatively, you could make the French, Russian, Norwegian, or (if you're feeling particularly adventurous) the Cambodian Flag. I will attach an image of flags in red white and blue to give you some ideas!

Enjoy!
