Stop Motion Story- Left in the Cold by Ashley and Carter
A 6th-grade student and an 8th-grade student worked together to create a stop-motion video. The children decided on a storyboard. Next, they used an iPad to take pictures in the Stop Motion Studio Pro app. Finally, they spent time editing and adding features such as music and text.
Supplies
- iPad
- Stop Motion Pro app (This app costs but allows many additional features such as music.
- tripod
Story Board
Students should start by deciding on a story plot. This can be as simple as a paper folded into 6 parts as this team decided. Some prefer to do a simple illustration, this team narrated their idea.
Take Pictures and Edit
Students take pictures using a tripod to minimize shaking or movement. Once pictures are taken, students can go back and edit with features such as pause which helps the creator draw attention to certain pictures, allowing the viewer to look at all the aspects of the picture rather than timing the entire film at the same rate throughout. For example, if you have text on a picture, you will want to pause it and allow the viewer time to read the text. Editing also allows the creator to add text and/or music.
