Stick (almost) Anywhere Webcam

IMG_0020.JPG
I had a problem (its as if they come looking for me), I want a camera to document the work I do in the lab while I'm working, yet there aren't really any convenient places to put a camera. I had toyed with the idea of bolting one to my swing lamp, but I still want to reposition the camera if I need to. Magnets. Why not glue a magnet to the base of the webcam?

You can stick this camera to any steel surface, be it a lamp, a wall, a car, or whatever. The camera could be used for lots of applications. I'm using mine as a documentation device in conjunction with the lab computer.

Prep the Magnet

File or scrub(with a Brillo/Scotch-BriteTM pad) the back of the magnet to get all the grease and other junk off of it, when its smooth and clean its time to put it together.

Pick out your webcam to sacrifice destroy use for science! (I used a $10 cheapo one without a mic that I had got for another project which didn't work out)
File the bottom of the camera flat where you'll want it to sit.

Put It Together

Now fit the magnet on the webcam for a test fit, then apply your preferred glue to where the magnet will sit.

Tape It Up and Wait

Now tape the magnet tightly to the webcam and wait till the glue sets and cures (E6000 takes 24-48 hours to cure fully)

Use It!

Stick it on surfaces that like magnets and use it like a normal webcam. I will use mine for documenting builds and such.
