Making the Bread

To make the bread first pour 250g flower into a bowl along with 2 teaspoons of backing powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Then add 125 ml water and 1 tablespoon olive oil into the same bowle and start mixing it with a spoon. If it is mostly intact you can get it out of the bowl and start mixing it with your hands. When the bread is all mixed up and is fully combined you can put it into a bowl to save it until the fire is ready.

Selecting the Right Twigs

It is important to select the right size twig before you get to carving it. Generally it should be a about 1 - 1.5 meters in length and around a diameter of 4 cm at the bottom. You can use a saw or gardening scissors (if you're strong enough) to cut off the twig. Remove any large branches coming off of the main one using some gardening scissors.

Carving the Twigs

Start by roughly carving away the bark until most of it is off and the inner stem starts to show. Remember to always cut away from yourself to avoid cutting your fingers. After that you can go back and remove all the smaller bits of barks still hanging onto the branch. Finally clean your stick by washing the tip with running water or covering it with aluminum foil.

Starting a Fire

Now find a fire place where you can make the fire. Start off by collecting dry sticks and grass. Then lay a little bit of the grass into the pit and light up a match and place it in the grass. As soon as it burns you can add more grass and when the fire is pretty big you can start by adding needles, thin sticks or dry leaves every few seconds. And if your fire keeps on going out try adding less sticks. Eventually add bigger and bigger sticks until the fire is burning steadily.

Roasting the Bread

Once the fire has died down a bit you can roll some of your bread onto a carved stick and hold it above the fire. Make sure to turn your stick every minute so it will be brown on all sides. Do this process for 15 minutes and if you like your stick bread rather a dark brown just leave it over the fire for 17-20 minutes.

Enjoy

Now all that is left to do is remove the bread from the stick (watch out it probably is still really hot) and enjoy the delicious taste of your fresh stick bread.
