Step by Step How to Make a Can O' Lantern

IMG_4547.JPG

A problem that I faced was looking for objects to reuse. I really had to think outside the box and get creative so, I decided to make a can O' lantern with a old Manwich can. Another problem I faced while working on this was how people were able to carve into it without hurting themselves or kids only ten and up can do it. (Can O' lantern is the same thing as a jack O' lantern but with an empty can)

The solution I choose for this was first, to let the children come up with the design and help put the candle in it. Next parents can carve the design with whatever tool is needed to do so and lastly make it to were only 13 and up can carve into it with a parent supervising.

Supplies

  • Empty can
  • Paper
  • Pipe cleaner
  • Any marker
  • Tape
  • Any tool that is strong enough to go through a can

Pick Out a Face

You can pick out anything you would like it does not always have to be a face!

Print and Cut Out the Face

You only want to cut the black part of the design your doing and, tape it to the can any way you want.

Color in the Spots You Cut Out

After you colored it in it should look like this after you take the tap off.

Carving Time!

This part my be different then in the picture because, the tool used is different. You DO NOT have to use the same tool that is shown in the picture!
