Steamed Pork Buns
Steamed pork buns are by far my favorite Chinese food! To sum it up, its basically vegetables and pork wrapped inside a piece of dough and then steamed. Lets get started!
The Ingredients
1/2 lb. of ground pork,
1 onion,
3 green onion stocks,
2 carrots,
1 can of bamboo shoots,
1 zucchini,
Soy sauce,
Rice vinegar,
Sesame oil,
Garlic,
Black pepper,
Salt,
Sugar,
Flour,
Yeast
Lets get cooking!
The Dough
For the dough take 1 cup of warm water and add to it, 2tsp. Yeast. 1/2 tsp. salt, 1tsp. Sugar, 2 T of oil. Now stir to mix all ingredients. Now add 3 cups if flour and stir till it forms a ball. Kneed the dough for 2 min. Then cover and let raise pushing it down every thirty min for1.5 hrs.
Vegetables
Cut 1/2 onion, zucchini, carrot, bamboo shoots, and green onion, into small pieces. Now oil a pan and put all veggies in at once. Stir ever so often till the onion in the mixture becomes translucent. Now take out put a teaspoon of soy sauce in and set aside.
The Pork
Put the pork in a bowl add 2 cloves if minced garlic, 1 teaspoon on soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of sesame seed oil. Mix with your hands. Oil a pan and put your pork in. Stir to create small pieces. Let sit till it turns a light brown color. Now mix the pork with the veggies. Set aside.
Assembly
Take your dough and divide it into three pieces. Take one piece and roll it out to be 1/4" thick. Find a round shape and use to cut the dough.( I used a can lid) now cup the dough and put a spoon full of filling in. Create a ball by folding the edges into each other. Now put the buns in a steamer and steam for 20 min.
Sauce
Cut a1/2 onion and put in a bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of soy sauce on top then put 1/4 cup of rice vinegar in and stir.
